Thatiana Diaz Review

Thank you for the beautiful photo and note Thatiana!:

As a past titleholder and ongoing pageant competitor, my smile is very important to me. From young, I struggled with confidence due to not having the smile I felt I should have. I would do my best on stage but never shine to my fullest potential because I was afraid to smile with my teeth. I met Dr.Veytsman at a pageant orientation and I must say that approaching her to discuss my options was one of the best decisions ofmy life. In only two visits, my smile was exactly where I always wanted it to be and just in time for the Miss New York USA 2013 pageant. Thanks to Dr.Veytsman and her team, I was able to have the full confidence to shine on stage and I placed third runner up. They did what I thought was impossible in a New York time. From the moment you walk into that office and meet this professional and excellent staff, you will know that you made a great decision!

Ask the Doctor: Cap & Crown Stains

ASK THE DOCTOR!
Q: "If you get a cap or crown on your tooth, does it always stay the same color if your real teeth stain yellower? and does it look white in under a black light?"
A: Good question! Both porcelain crowns and natural teeth stain in your mouth at varying degrees. Natural teeth and enamel are much more porous than porcelain and will pick up stains a lot more quickly. The best way to ensure an even color long term is to talk to your dentist about whitening your teeth before your crown is placed (especially if it is in the front of your mouth). Then you have the crown matched to the new shade of your teeth. After your porcelain crown matches your natural teeth in color, you start a maintenance program where you can use a whitening pen with a low level of hydrogen peroxide similar to what ZOOM or BRITESMILE or have your dentist make you whitening trays to wear at home. This will help oxidize any extrinsic stains before they get a chance to settle in and account for any differences in the rate of staining between porcelain and enamel.

Ask the Doctor: Lost Tooth

ASK THE DOCTOR!
Q: Dafne asks "What can be done if you've lost a tooth?"
A: There are several options if you've lost a tooth. The first is a bridge. A bridge literally bridges the gap created by one or more missing teeth. A bridge is made up of two crowns for the teeth on either side of the gap -- these two anchoring teeth are called abutment teeth -- and a false tooth/teeth in between.
Bridges can restore aesthetics and function and we almost always use all tooth colored porcelain bridges in the front area for aesthetics.
The second option is a dental implant. Dental Implants have changed the face of dentistry over the last 25 years and are an amazing long term option. Implants replace the root of the tooth with titanium. The top of the implant is then restored with a natural looking crown that mimics tooth form and function. With a single implant, you do not need to do anything to the adjacent teeth.
Both are great options. One may be preferred over the other depending on conditions in the mouth and aesthetic goals. Consult further with your dentist for more information!
